Customer Reviews

I loved it!!!!!!

I just went to Kobe Steakhouse today for lunch with my coworker and the crunch roll was fantastic. This is my first time eating in this restaurant and I was totally amazed! I liked the sushi, the place and the service. My friend is a regular customer to this restaurant and she said it was really good and even better during the happy hour 3-6pm with half price rolls & sushis. Although I live in south austin, I will definitely go back more often and i'll bring more friends to this restaurant. I wish they'll open a restaurant in the south location. :)

Pros: everything

Cons: none really

Best Teppan around! Be careful how you order lunch or you will pay A LOT!

Last year we wrote a review about this wonderful restaurant where owner Susan comes to greet you personally. A lot of our comments remain the same. Now they have more chefs that we can recommend by name...starting with Chepo, Sunny, Amazing URIEL, friendly George, Saul...you get it...we have been there quite a bit. Wait staff does NOT do much to earn the 20% tip...REALLY! They tend to forget to bring the rice...unless you get the fried rice from the chef...after paying a surcharge for that. Now they have added a surcharge for the salad and 'we have a running joke" in our family that NO matter how many people order a meal you get "a little zucchini" for the whole table and if you are lucky a couple of eggs if their is a whole large group!!! We usually ask chefs if The ONE zucchini is kept at a special vault. On the bright side...portions are excellent...chefs are friendly...the quality of meats is great and size is just right...not too big, not too small...just yummy and healty! *Waitstaff does NOT last long at all. Wondering here if it is due to Keith's stern look and attitude? Or ....oh, well. The only long standing Thai looking waitress told us that managers were TOO BEESEE (too busy) when we asked about the music being played! They are too busy to serve rice or refill drinks..but not too busy to add a fat undeserved tip to the check.

Pros: Good price in general

Cons: Watch out how you order or prices will break your planned budget

First off, Kobe is not that bad of a place, I have always gotten good sushi. Second, the prices might be a little high, but where are they not?? I do enjoy the atmosphere, and the wait staff seems mostly friendly. Would be nice if the chef spoke English though. I have many great experiences at this resteraunt and do plan on returning, but I am turned off by what seems to be a bogus review posted on the same date as the Resteraunts Reply to the bad review : ( If you have never been to Kobe Steakhouse, I say go and see for yourself.

Great Kobe Filet
Reviewed by Ausfood on 2008-04-24T14:30:50Z

We went to Kobe for their Kobe beef. I wanted to try the kobe Ribeye but was steered towards the Kobe filet by my waiter. It was a great decisio. I enjoyed it's rich, buttery flavor immensely. The manager came by to check on my experience and was pleasantly greeted. Fine young man. He gave me a complimentary appetizer card for my next visit :) I also had the calamari tempura which was amazingly tender. Service was good but not fantastic but the free appetizer card made up for it. I waited for 30 minutes to be sat, but it was extremely busy that night. You can tell everyone was having a good time. I am an older man so the number of kids I sat with was irritating so I will sit in the bar area next time for more privacy. Good job Kobe!

Pros: Great food, service

Cons: busy
