Description:
We will backpack the Outer Mountain Loop, one of the more challenging trips within the Park. The backpack will last 4 days, 3 nights, go over 30 miles, including a sidetrip summit of Emory Peak (it's a short rock scramble up near the top that gets most 1st timer's hearts racing). Highlites include the descent of rugged and steep Juniper Canyon, the infamous and unforgiving 12 mile stretch known as the Dodson Trail (it's notoriety is justified), and the climb back into the mountains via the Blue Creek Drainage (large yellow wasps and lots of sand plus pretty red rock).
