Hill Country Christian School Reviews

The school is good academically, but not at all worth the additional cost. Many of the teachers and students are not godly and in many ways, far worse than in public school. I suggest sending your children to public school and spending the over $800 monthly fee on enrichment activities for your children.

I have 3 kids that attend Hill Country Christian School of Austin (HCCSA) and we have been attending the school for 11 years. I have been thrilled with the education, leadership and Christian values that are taught and modeled by the teachers and administration. HCCSA is very friendly, Godly and welcoming to everyone. I'm sad to read that one reviewer didn't feel that way - that is truly not the way most people view HCCSA. Also, I know that HCCSA desires to reach the 'whole child' not just academics - but since it is a 'school' their goal is to prepare them academically as well. You should go for a tour and experience the HCCSA culture yourself - you won't be disappointed.

I am going to be blatantly honest. This school is terrible, do not send your child here. Many of the students are arrogant, ungodly and unfriendly.

This is a great school. It is Christ-centered and academically challenging. Discipline is also very important in the school. My only concern is the homework load on the students, even in elementary. The school requires so much time that the children (and parents) cannot have a life outside of school.... even for a bright child.

The is a very good school academically, particularly for grades K-8. I believe public school IB programs are better than this private high school. It is a Christ-centered school, which I really like. The teachers and staff are also loving and dedicated. The school should try to improve the high school program to be more competitive with public IB programs. In addition, the school is not prepared to deal with divers cultures. I believe the staff, teachers and even students need training related to accepting diverse races and cultures.

I have taught at Hill Country for three years and my son has also attended Hill Country with me. It is a dream working environment and a top notch school. We could not be happier.

My 4th grader has gone here since Kinder. It is a classical school that is demanding of mind and spirit. The level of difficulty amazes me. Go to their website, the mission statement speaks for itself.History is studied in chronolgical order beginning w/ creation to present.Trips are incorprated for reinforcement. We are working ahead in grammar & math.Parent involvement is high and encouraged.Tuition to comp. schools is exc.Cafeterias and fab sports fields are pd by your hard earned $. We are a family not just a prep school.Discipline is valued, self responsibilty expected. The board gives access, but you have to go to the meetings. They can be reached by email.Positive change is in the air. Music is great so is art Latin.Go by and read school paper to see caliber of students aBlessed school!

We have been at HCCSA for the last three years, and our children received a great education during that time. In 2006, however, there was a hugh turnover in the administrative staff, and the focus of the school shifted form high academic excellence to high spiritual formation. If you are looking for a college preapratory program that offers high academic standards for your children, this is not the right school for you. In addition, the school board is extremely closed, and you have no hope of your questions being addressed. We have decided not to enroll our children at HCCSa for next year.

I have 2 children that have attended HCCSA since Kindergarten. I have a 7th grader and a 3rd grader. This school is exceptional in Christian character development and in Academics. The extra activities, such as Art, Music, and Sports, where initial pretty weak put each year have been improving. Excellent Facilities provided by a semi-mega church, except on the sport side of things and in the lack of a real Cafeteria. Overall the teachers and leadership seem pretty solid. For the price it is the best value private school in the Austin area. As time goes buy I suspect it will become the best regardless of price. It is very challenging from the Academic side so keep that in mind. I have the nature to be sort of critical so my ratings are 'real' and probably a little pessimistic
