My son has been at Legacy Oaks Christian School for 6 years. He will graduate this year and is very excited about starting college, but sad to leave Legacy Oaks. Being a bright student, he has been able to work ahead in his academic studies and will graduate a year early from High School (with Distinguished Achievement grad. requirements). Legacy Oaks' adademic program exceeds the Texas public school graduation requirements - so we are thrilled with the academic path that Legacy Oaks has provided for him.

We have 2 children at Legacy Oaks and are extremely happy with the school and the teachers. Our childrens classrooms have a teacher to student ratio of 1:14 as well as a full-time teacher assistant which allows each child to get the attention they need or at least better than what they will get elsewhere. They also have a resourse teacher who will work with your child 1 on 1 during the school days if your child exhibits needs in certain subjects. The environment is loving, the teachers are organized, prepared and encouraging and the children express compassion towards one another while learning to work with each other and all age groups.

My son and his friends were unhappy here, due to the lack of structure and poor administration/discipline. Legacy Oaks may be right for children that are quiet and need little guidance with schoolwork, but it doesn't work well for children that need a little help.

I am writing to express my deep happiness at how well my daughter is doing at Legacy Oaks. When my daughter was at public school she didn t care about anything but what her friends were doing and who didn t like who. Now she is interested in school and is blossoming into a very happy and educated young lady and that is b/c of Legacy Oaks. She has totally made a 180 degree turn and is actually enjoying school and cares about her grades. I have never seen this in her before. I am very lucky to have had Legacy Oaks accept my daughter into this wonderful school. She has learned so much in a short amount of time and gained many new friends. I feel the school is doing a fantastic job at teaching my daughter and I recommend this school to everyone.

Legacy Oaks is one of the few schools in Austin that accepts and works with dyslexic children. They provide lots of extra support to help them to be successful. My son has benefitted from a classroom where he is challenged, accepted, and made to feel successful.

This year is the second year for my granddaughter at Legacy Oaks and she has 6 classmates that are also spending their 2nd years with Legacy Oaks, because we are very pleased with the high quality education they are receiving. My granddaughter was shy and reluctant to leave Mom & Dad at the beginning. Legacy Oaks encourages my granddaughter and shows her how important she is at school. She is eager to learn and respects her teachers and friends. I like the variety of courses she is learning at Legacy Oaks: sign language, music, Mandarin plus all the core subjects. I can visit the classroom anytime of the day and see happy children. It is such a comfort to know she is safe and in a great learning environment.

My son came from a public school where he was bullied and teased. He was sad and withdrawn. Legacy Oaks has been warm and welcoming. He is slowly coming out of his shell and we are getting our son back.

So many exciting things are happening at Legacy Oaks this year! The School Board & Administration have encouraged staff to collaborate with them on program changes. Our Upper Grade students will have access to some really fun electives this year. (I actually wish I could take some of the classes my peers are offering!) My child attends Legacy Oaks and, as a parent, I'm so happy that Grammar School children will get at least 2 special area classes per day (art, music, PE, Latin or Spanish, etc), as well as daily recess. No recorders at LOCS! 3rd grade & up will learn violin in Music class! A well-respected teacher, who has been at Legacy Oaks for many years, summed it up best when they said, 'If anyone comes up to the school and and spends any amount of of time here ~ it is impossible not to be inspired!'

I am excited that this school added an ALT (Academic Language Therapist) and does individual learning plans for my sons!

Had potential but they have had too many headmasters in the last few years. Teachers are excellent but have no support from the admin so burn out quickly. There was a headmaster a few years back that really caused some long lasting problems for the school they are still trying to come back from that.

Both of my children attended Legacy Oaks last year and I can't praise them enough! The curriculum is outstanding and my children also had the opportunity to take Spanish, Latin, Violin and Piano. The teachers and staff are very caring and encouraging. My child did not just gain a school but also a warm, loving family made up of the teachers staff and other parents. I tried homeschooling and Legacy Oaks is a great alternative with their classical education and they are very affordable. Legacy Oaks encouraged me to take part in my children's education and are very inviting for the parent to spend quality time on the campus with their child. Thumbs Up!

Legacy Oaks offers a classical Christian education model in a small, nurturing environment. Students learn how to analyze, reason and express their ideas. Small groups encourage participation & ensure needs are met at each ability level. Resource help will include Dyslexia/Dysgraphia support across age levels. This year, Grammar school students will benefit from Shurley Grammar and Excellence in Writing Programs, Fine Art, and Music (Suzuki method). Enrichments: PSIA, robotics club, chess club, Math Pentathlon & private music lessons: guitar, violin, piano. Upper Grades will switch to a modified block schedule, which will more readily match students with classes at their ability levels. New Study Halls, Advisory period & after-school tutoring hours give students 1:1 instruction. Electives include: Young Entrepreneurs: Introduction to Economics; Contraptions: Conceptual Physics; Studio Arts, Theatre, and Journalism/Yearbook. Botany/Horticulture students will help to design school gardens. Enrichment programs include: Student Council, Golf Club, Chess Club, Robotics, PSIA & TAAPS competition.

This school has been a diamond-in-the-rough for years and is finally coming into its own. They hired an experienced headmaster, he is returning the school to its classical education foundation. Problems are resolved quickly: when it was determined that the learning curve was too wide in a combined class, they made the decision on Friday, worked on the new class schedule, contacted parents and hired a teacher during a holiday weekend. There are private lessons in strings, piano, guitar and drums; sports including volleyball, basketball; weekly chapel; clubs like journalism, computer, robotics, and chess. Excellent art competition judged by recognized artists, involved with PSAI and Math competitions, and egg drop contest. The school has a sweet, loving and accepting atmosphere. We love the school and its new motto- come grow with us!!

I think this school is fabulous because it shows our children how to be a good and educated christian and maintain morals. The teachers are fabulous and really work with parents regarding issues and since the classes are smaller, they are able to give more attention to each child and focus on their development and work with their individual learning methods. LOCS also offers parenting classes on a weekly basis and they are going to start new programs to enhance the current curriculum for the 2007-2008 school year. Also for all students they offer Spanish and once they get older they offer Latin, which I am anxious for my young son to learn once he's able to! I recommend this school and give it an A+!

I have been a parent at this school for several years now. This however will be my last year. Last year we didn't have a headmaster. This year we do, but other than planning to raise tuition he hasn't done much. He has added a few extra activities. Other than that, he has done nothing except cause for speculation.

quality of academic programs is okay. there was a talented gifted program one year that was very nice, then it was removed the next due to teachers leaving. last year there was a basketball team, this year there is only a volleyball team. No indoor gym. last year no hot lunch program , this year there is. Teachers are caring. No requirements for parent involvement with new principal, however last year there was.

This school has been a big disappointment. The teachers are great however some grade levels have a teacher that only work part-time In the last 6 years that our son has been there, we have had 4 headmasters in addition to 1 year without any, two of the headmasters were liked by many. The school has a lot of potential but lacks in stability. For example, at the beginning of the school year, the 3rd and 4th grade were combined, then later separated without any notification to parents. Parent involvement is encouraged for volunteering however the requirements for involvement with your child has been removed this year. For those who are looking for something short term, the price is good and the teachers are caring. Music and art are availble.

An excellent school with talented and caring teachers, administration and staff. Spanish classes are provided for all grades, as is the music program. The school choir recently attended the symphony and piano and guitar lessons are available for interested students. The middle school science classes recently finished their unit on disecting - with hands-on learning! Overall, it is a very caring community, and each teacher for every grade really focuses on the needs of the individual student.

The parents at Legacy Oaks are very much encouraged to be involved, making it a very enriching environment and more of a community. We appreciate the Christian leadership and chance for our kids to get a great well-rounded education.

My child attended this school for 3 years, I was very active on the campus. The principal did not interact with parents, the founder did not interact or know what parents wanted or needed for their children. There was not accoutability of the staff to the administration so the curriculum was everywhere. No extracurricular activity except a big field to stand in. Some of the teachers are great, others leave a lot to be desired. No leadership, No parent involvement, No curricular structure, Principal and Vice Principal not in touch with school or parents. Too many other good private schools in South Austin for the money offering a great education. Keep looking.
