Johnston High School Reviews

I have a student attending Johnson and I agree with the review saying that there are to many things wrong with this school. The administration staff is a joke. I have serious doubts about their credentials. If they believe in No Child Left Behind they dont show it and my child is a prime example after numerous phone calls and visits I am at my witts end and dont know what to do.

As a parent of a student that attends Johnston High School, I can attest to the fact that there are more things wrong with this school than can be fixed. Leadership -non existant, teacher involement where? Parent's not to be found anywhere, dress code huh? there's a dress code ha ha.

Hi, not a parent but an ex-student. this school has a drug problem and horrible regular teachers. On the magnet side it has great teachers, but they dont pay them enough to stay around. The school is in bad condition and the students sometimes very violent. Horrible parent involvement and not many extracurricular activities to choose from.

The school over all are really trying this year to bring up the students academics, teachers need to get to the level the students are, where they can communicate with these students if one has a problem personally or with other students they need to realize that the other students are not to blame for what has happened or is happening(smile). As for sports there should be more involvment with parents, staff and so on. sometimes we are so involved with what is of other importance and forget that these students also need a bit of attention and incouragement! Thanks from a commited parent(smile)

The school does not do well academically. There are a few bright stars but the administration doesn't enforce rules. Many of the teachers fill the days with having kids doing worksheets.

Teacher's don't care enough to give students personal attention, even when they are about to fail a class. I was almost failing geometry my sophmore year and didn't realize it untill after I moved to another district and my new teacher told me. They also don't have anything to keep kids interseted(ie- extracurricular like swimming or golf clubs). There is also a lot of violence and drugs going around in this school.
