It has wonderful teachers and great parents that make it a super learning environment for children. We care and we try!

We are so plessed to have our son at Davis! The faculty and staff are great and very invloved with the kids. There are so many volunteers that really help everything run smoothly too. My son especially likes the weekly labs in computer and science that not all schools offer. I cannot say enough great things about the school.

The administration is very responsive, and encourages the children to do their best in a very positive way. The parental involvement at the school is second to none.

Davis Elementary is an excellent school with great teachers and wonderful leadership. I particularly like the 'team' teaching approach and cross-discipline tie-in's. (i.e. many of the academic study units also have a PE, Art, Music related units.) Great parental involvement/volunteerism at this school. We moved to a larger home a few years ago and specifically chose a home in the same area so that our younger child can continue to attend school at Davis Elementary. Highly recommended!

Response to other postings. Special ed. Children are special ed. For a rea. You can not judge a five minute viewing and sum the situation just from that. The staff is excellent and very experienced. The childen are learning even sometimes when they are giving consistwnt teaching. Davis is a great place to be regular ed. Or special ed. I have seen other schools a lot worse. Believe me be thankful

I was not referring to any child with autism. Come to the lunch room to witness how children behave or spend time in the classroom, and you will know what I am talking about. Quite frankly, I am tired of a select few kids in each class who act out, and are not disciplined at home. Then it becomes the school's job to discipline the kids, and it becomes the teacher's responsibility to do it, and they have it tough enough. I am talking about kids using cuss words, screaming at adults, hitting, acting up, indecent exposure, etc. I have witnessed these incidents, and the kids behavior continue to become worse, and I am shocked that it is happening at such a young age. Again, I am not referring to any child in PPCD or with disabilities, because I do see them, and understand them.

After reading the last reiew I have to post. Davis is a great school. My son has been in the preschool program for children disablities there this year. (We were at a different school last year that was very lacking in this area.) My son may be one of the children the previous poster mentioned with behavior problems. The PPCD classes are in the same hallway as the pre-K classes. It is not simply poor up bringing, it is called autism. The training the PPCD staff at this school has is excellent. The principle does a good job including SpEd kiddos in the classroom & has a better understanding of their needs compared to other principles. I feel lucky that my son is able to attend this school. Next time the previous posted sees a child in the hall with behavior issues I hope they won't be so quick to judge.

When we came to Austin, we just asked for a good school and safe area. We got a loving community. Davis pulls together top administration (we love you, Dr. Hall!!) stunning parents, teachers who offer love and experience, and kids who work hard to be their best. Just go by any time (and I mean any time) and you'll see the artwork on the walls, the learning in the music or art room and the lessons in the library. An example, moms occasionally dropped by recently to plug tiles in a sign that will go up outside the school. Hours and love went into this sign that working moms -- and dads -- made possible. The janitorial staff knows your name and the cafeteria monitors always say hi. And the cafeteria ladies always give you the best cut of meat!! ...Davis Rocks!! Laura M.

Outstanding balance of strong academics and excellent activities to produce well-rounded students. Staff truly cares about the Davis students and the atmosphere within the school is of one happy family. Awesome PTA and the parental involvement is strongly encouraged-a model that should be duplicated in all schools in Austin ISD. Would highly recommend Davis to any family moving to Austin.

Davis has a wonderful Special Ed team that has done many good things for my children and many others. The Principal is a big part of why Davis is grat place for any child. Most parents do not want their children to leave Davis. happy Parent

The teachers are overall very good and communicative. My child had one teacher who did not communicate effectively, but she was an exception. Excellent library and good literacy programs. Good diversity in the classrooms and emphasis on learning about other cultures. Overall recommended.

Davis Elementary is a school that strives for academic excellence. With a low turnover rate for teachers there is great continuity from year to year. Many extracurricular activities are available, for all ages of kids. Parental involvement might be the most outstanding aspect of this school. While there is always room for improvement, our family feels like Davis is a wonderful, nurturing learning environment for our children.

Davis Elementary is a school which strives for success on all fronts. Opportunities for extracurricular activities abound, for all grade levels as well. Parental involvement is incredible, probably one of the most appealing aspects of the school. While always room for improvement, we feel that Davis Elementary is the best learning environment for our children.

Will Davis Elementary School is a great school with huge parent participation. Activities are well organized, educational and fun. My experience with the teachers up to this point have been great. I have two more children to go to Davis and couldn't be more confident of their care.

Davis is a high-quality elementary school. One of the best features of this school is its extremely active and supportive parental community and PTA. It is wonderful to have so many families who value education attending the same school as your child. The staff and especially the administration are all clearly committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students. The teachers go the extra mile to meet the needs of each child. It is a wonderful atmosphere.

Davis is an excellent school. Classes are small and staff are very motivated to work well with the students. I thought that the Kindergarten program was extremely welcoming and created and great induction year for my child. I thoroughly recommend the school.

My daughter has attended Davis since Kindergarten. She loved her K and 1st teachers and is quite happy with her 3rd as well. Her 2nd grade teacher seemed a bit narrow-minded and critical, and I believe my daughter's energy and enthusiasm suffered for it. This year her grades are back up to their previous levels. Despite this setback--which I don't actually view as terribly serious since even the best students encounter a teacher or two they just can't learn from--Davis is an outstanding school. You won't find a greater since of community. I like the diversity that exists at Davis. There is a good mix of ethnicities and socio-economic levels. My daughter and I are both sorry we must move.

Davis Elementary has been a wonderful experience for our family. My son is in 5th grade now and loves to go to school each day. The staff and faculty are all great. Each year Kyle has been assigned to a classroom that fits his needs. The principal has been there since the school opened 10 or so years ago. He sincerely loves his school and the kids in it. The school provides several after school programs such as Math Pentatholon, Chess, Foreign languages, Future Scientist, Volleyball, Jumproap teams, Mad Science to name a few. We will sincerely miss all the people who make Davis such a great school.

Three of my children have gone to Davis and I have never stepped foot into a more exciting elementary school in all of Austin. Dr. Hall is the visionary behind it all, but his carefully selected staff is what drives the place. There is no finer school and Mr. Will Davis will tell you that himself. The school has good karma, that's all I can say.

I have two kids at Davis. They've attended only this elementary. I believe that they want to prepare kids for success. There is tremendous parental involvement and the kids seem proud of their school. My kids love it. I will judge their middle and high schools by their experiences at Davis. It is truly an outstanding school.

I have two sons at Davis currently age 6 and age 9. I am very pleased with everything at Davis. Davis offers everything that any private school can offer my children. The principal and the teachers do an excellent job with the students at Davis.
