I was concerned about the schools here, But as soon as i got to speak to some of the staff and teachers at Hutto Elementary, i was a very happy parent! Everyone was so sweet and welcoming. My son's teacher is AWESOME! She is excellent with the children, my husband and i are very pleased with the way she exceeds on getting to know and involved with the students to see which is the best method of learning for the child. I have never experienced anything remote similar to the lack of communication and caring exhibited at this school. I grew up in schools where staff cared. I have run across at best a handful of caring and genuine teachers and aides. What has become of our schools today? No wonder so many kids drop out. We've been extremely pleased with the principal, teachers, and other members of the staff. They really go beyond what's expected and make an effort to get to know your child and his/her family. They really care about the students even outside the classroom, so much, that they feel like members of our family. I'm at the school several times a week and always have positive experiences with the principal and teachers. We've also been pleased with the academics and the response from everyone in regards to our child's needs. At school activities and programs the principal is generally nowhere to be found. She is not concerned with the concerns of the parents of the needs of her students. Teachers for the most part follow her example. With notable exception is the speech teacher, Ms. Lisanne Taylor and the former Assistant Principal, Patti Baron. Ms. Baron is no longer there, so it will be interesting to see how the new one interacts with students and parents. Communication is lacking.
