Park Crest Middle School Reviews

I sooo love this school! its the best!

The school could do better in many areas. My daughter is starting her first year and already feels like the school is over crowded and provides little support. Lunch lines are lengthy and move too slow to a point where my daughter has only ten minutes to eat. A percentage of students are disrespectful to teachers, and have no desire to learn what so ever.

I have 2 at Park Crest. New principal came in Fall 2008. Great leadership. Teacher responsiveness far better than what I got at Brookhollow Elem. Excellent extra-curricular activities and teachers. Weekly emails from principal and updated web page helps parents know what is going on. Love TxConnect and teachers update that weekly or more often. Seems to me school is heading in the right direction of becoming great!

Parkcrest is the best :-D

Poor in almost every area. Administration is non responsive, doesn't enforce rules equally and teachers do not pay attention to district scope and sequence. Math and preap LA are horrible. Worksheets and low expectations dominate these areas. Overcrowding may be gone but apathy still dominates admin. and teachers. State testing proves mediocrity rules Park Crest. The school could be awesome if a new administration would be put in place or the current one worked at helping kids not just looking good. My child is very active in activities and those areas are top notch. We just have to do a great deal of teaching at home to make up for the mediocre classroom experiences...

I, being a former student here at Park Crest Middle school, think that the teachers are absolutely fantastic at what they do. All the teachers I've had experience with (which is a lot) have seemed to enjoy teaching. In the Pre-Ap program, students are pushed to do their very best to exceed at what they are being taught, and even in the regular classes the same goes on, just at the level of learning that matches the grade they are in instead of one grade above. Students who apply for the extracurricular activities, usually will get what they put as their top 2. Sometimes they don't, but more often than not, they do. In my experience at this school, I have found that quite a few parents like to be involved in the activities here, such as class parties. Remember, this is from my experiences at PCMS.

Three of my children have been enrolled in the school. Every year seems to be worse with overcrowding issues and many administrator/teacher concerns. While there are plenty of great people in this school, the bad far outweight the good.

My daughter is starting eighth grade and I know several families that are attending or have had children in the school. Although it is a slightly overcrowded school the teachers perform very well. Everyone has been very pleased. I am very glad my daughter is going there and I look forward to my son attending next year.

I have to say that ParkCrest Middle School is the best in the district. Not because I think that it's exceptional, but because compared to the other schools they are. The school is very good about challenging students and giving them many opportunities to learn new skills through a variety of extra-curricular activities and electives. My only complaints of the school is they tend to be a little too overbearing with guidelines and rules. It used to not be so bad, until a new apartment complex opened in it's zone which produced some children that didn't have the best outlook toward school. Minimal violence and rule breaking continued, resulting in a crack down on policies. While the administrators are doing their best at solving these problems, it's making it rather hard for other students.

We have had two children in this school. The teachers really respond and encourage parents to be involved. My husband and I both work outside of the home, which in many cases limit the availability of a parent to be involved with their child and school. With this school not true because of the wonderful use of email capabilities. Each teacher was just awesome at responding and helping me keep up with my child as well as keeping me informed as a parent. As for the Principal, Asst. Principal, & Counselor they were more than available and really were on top of issues/students in their school. The only disappointing experience I've had was with the office staff. Many times upon visiting the campus they were less than attentive and not real friendly. I have personally witnessed the teachers, principals, & counselors go above and beyond the call of duty!
