Brookhollow Elementary School Reviews

Overall, Brookhollow is a great school. The student body is diverse. My children's teacher's have been great. Some require the parent to actively probe in order to find out what is going on in the classroom. But all concerns and questions were welcome and taken care of quickly.I agree with the others regarding the principal. I would see him on a certain day of the week, every week, and never got more out of him than 'Hello'. The Vice Pricinpal seems involved (POPs rallies and MathStar), but not overbearing. I attend PTO first meeting then don't go back. Ultimately, the teacher-parent-student relationship is most important, and that is great.

My daughter is in fourth grade and has attended BES since Kinder. We have had a great experience with the teachers and staff. Communication and parent involvement is key! Like every school, they have had some bad apples...teachers and students. They handle these issues appropriately. I am not actlively involved with the PTO, but volunteer whenever called upon. I spend as much time as possible in my daughter's classroom and visiting for lunch. I believe my child is happier and more accountable with my involvement!

Our child is autistic and attends Brookhollow The office staff is wonderful and keep parents informed about what's going on at school. The school Nurse Darla is fantastic with the kids. My highest praise goes to the Special Ed. Staff, though. Kim Peters is amazing and a truly gifted teacher. Our child has grown and progressed in the past two years to heights that we never thought possible. The inclusion classroom teachers are patient and kind and equally wonderful. The entire student body is aware of the meaning of Autism and the autistic students who attend Brookhollow. It's refreshing that the students are educated about their differences and similarities. I can't write enough positive comments about this school. I'm so glad we moved to Pflugerville because of Brookhollow.

My child is in 5th grade and has attended this school since 1st grade. The diversity of the school is refreshing. Overall the teachers have been great, although as in every school, there are one or two that you wonder why they chose teaching as a career. I agree with the other comments that the principal lacks in social skills and that position could use a much-needed change. The teachers, office staff, and parents more than make up for that negative. The most important matter to me is that our child is getting a good education and it's great to see this school's kids motived and eager to learn They must be doing something right!

I agree to a point on the principal problems, he isn't a real people person as far as the parents go, but I do know that he went out of his way to ride the bus home everyday on one of the busses with the more lets just say spirited children. As the kids were getting off the bus he talked to all of them, even if it was just to say 'hi'. The teachers are varied as everyone has said. One of my daughters teachers kept in daily contact, the other had almost no interaction with parents during the week.

My son has a brilliant teacher. He is very in tune with my son's personality and how he learns to bring out the best in him. He keeps my husband and I up to date on positive behavior and when he needs to make better choices. However, I also agree that the Principal has no clue. He is very non-verbal with parents. The way the school is ran is confusing and seems to be headed in the wrong direction.

I agree that the principal has no clue what is going on in his school. The vice principal has too much control and does not approve age appropriate activities. When it is brought to her attention she says that no one else is complaining so you must be out of touch with the times. The teachers at this school do not seem to have much motivation or structure. We have been there for three years and are looking to relocate partly due to this problem.

the PTO tries to control all functions of the school . the principal has no clue of what is happening in the school . the extracurricular activities are fair as long as the children receive their field trips . the teachers are slow to start a project that is given to them at the first of the year and the children get it 3 months till the end of the year (A.R.) .

I have found Brookhollow respectable in its efforts to achieve and maintain a high quality standard for academic success. Parents seem to be very willing to help out with their child's homeroom and with other classes as well. The principal and vice-principal strive for excellence with a kind heart. The rotation of music, sports and art keeps the week involved and interesting, exposing students to a variety of educational experiences. Teachers and adminsitration seem to work cooperatively and tirelessly to ensure student safety and to ensure the education of every child. I also enjoyed observing the cafeteria staff as they made sure every child had either a fruit or vegetable on their plate. I commend Brookhollow for the top notch school it is and will be.

This school is great. There is a great open door policy for the parents. Parent participation is encouraged and welcomed. Kids are made to feel truly at home and welcome here also. There are many extra activities that kids can participate in. The PTO is very active and sponsers lots of events.
