Stony Point High School Reviews

I am currently a junior at SPHS, and I have to say I love it. Teachers really care about your grades, and weather you pass or fail, as long as you have a good attitude. Time is taken to make sure EVERY student is on track for graduation, even if it means transferring to to the SUCCESS program. Our athletic teams are excelling this year along with officially becoming an IB school. I am proud of where I go to school and the success that will come from attending it.

I had heard many negative stories about Stony Point High School during it's first few years. I was not happy when I learned our private school was closing and my son would have to attend Stony Point 9. But, I've been pleasantly surprised. The new principal has a strong vision for the school and many of the negative stories I heard were exaggerated by the local media. My son is now a junior and he loves it there. He has made lots of good friends and is very involved with several campus activities. I feel he is safe and flourishing. He has never regretted moving from his old school. The only trouble he's had is being overwhelmed by taking all Pre AP and AP classes (at the recommendation of a counselor). Too much homework caused stress and some bad grades but he's bouncing back strong!

We recently relocated to the Round Rock area from Houston, TX and in my search I was drawn to Stony Point. I met with the staff and counselors over the summer and this helped solidify my choice in campus for my son. After attending Open House it was clear the direction the leadership and staff have decided this campus is heading. The teacher-student expectation is clearly communicated along with the consequences. The parents who were in attendance were clearly committed to their child's education as well as the school's mission. I look forward to the achievements that will come for my son both academically and extra curricular. With time comes growth and wisdom and I like what I'm seeing from Stony Point High!

Our daughter opened SPHS in 1999 and graduated in 2003. My son started at SPHS in the fall of 2003 and graduated in 2007. There were growing pains as in most brand new schools but the knowledge base and experience of the teachers couldn't have been better and the facilities are state of the art! Excellent school!!

My son is excelling at Stony Point. He has great teachers that challenge him and they provide all the help, including before and after school tutoring, that he could need. Stony Point has a bad reputation for the few problems that are overly publicized by the local media. My daughter will be attending the new high school in a few years, and I hope it is as good as Stony Point.

I have 3 children at Stony Point. They are all very happy, smart and the school is loaded with clubs and activities to keep the kids interested.

The teachers seem to care and there is so much to offer me and fellow students

Stony Point is just a scapegoat for the round rock isd because it is the youngest school in the distrit and because it is on the east side, Mr. hernandez the new principal is tyring his hardest and doing a good job the teachers are womderful. Now that the schol is going to the playoffs for the first time things should be getting better.

This school is very good. I have 3 children currently attending this school and their state test scores are very high.

My daughter is going to this school and I am involved with her education. The school is a great school and what I see is that there are parents that are not involved and they dare to judge the school. How many parents that have a bad opinion about the school are parent volunteers? It is not about the school, it is about how much we care about our kids education. I believe in Stony Point and in my desire to be involved in my kid's education. Go Tigers!!!!!!!

Stony Point does not get the credit they deserve. This is a good school that cares about their students more than people know. Don't give up on this school, they aren't giving up on our children!

my son will be leaving Stony Point at the end of this school year. He played football and was involved in several other extra curricular activites. We simply must move him out of this district due to poor school leadership and a student culture that breeds low perfomance. There are some great kids there, just not enough of them.

This is a good school with an undeserved bad reputation. The school never gets acknowledged for the many good things that happen there and every negative thing gets blown out of proportion. This is a safe school. The kids are good kids. Most teachers care very deeply. There is a lot of help available for struggling kids. Sure, improvements can be made. But the school is on the right track.

Attempts to clean up this school and improve the education provided here are noble, but need to be made more quickly. They are letting a small group of students ruin the education of many. A culture change, more than anything will be required.

The school provides no support to students that are in need of help and having problems.
